STRIVE U Education & Training Coordinator
STRIVE U is a 2 year post-secondary program for young adults with intellectual disabilities. We serve people aged 18-24 in our 24-hour residential program. Throughout the 2 years students learn independent living skills with the goal of living as independently as possible in their own apartment upon graduation.
STRIVE U is currently seeking a full-time Education and Training Coordinator. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the successful day-to-day academic and life skills training process through establishing a healthy, safe, and fun learning and living environments and displaying competency in developing, modifying, and teaching STRIVE U residential curriculum in accordance with a “hands-on” approach to special education. The Education and Training Coordinator teaches group, classroom curriculum twice a week, and works with staff and students to develop tools to teach life skills outside of the classroom in a 1:1 setting. These skills include tasks like cleaning, cooking, budgeting, nutrition, menu planning, laundry, and more. This position requires an undergraduate degree in special education, teaching, or a related field. Schedule must be flexible as some evenings and weekends are required.
$1,750 Sign-on Bonus + $250 bonus for successful candidate who is already DSP certified by the Maine Dept. of Health and Human Services!

Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in special education, teaching, or a related field
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in either teaching or training
- Ability to adapt and individualize programs and lessons as needed.
- Assisting in training employees in STRIVE U residential curriculum.
- Teaching and modeling daily living skills to help prepare students for life after graduation.
